Abstract

The dynamics of regional developments have provided challenges and opportunities for the Iranian region. One of the main challenges is the possible strengthening of ISIS's revival on the borders of Iran, especially Iraq and Syria. Maintaining the strategic environment and ensuring national security goals are a priority for any country, therefore, Iran, as a regional power, has not been and is not indifferent to ISIS's crisis-making in its vital territory. Therefore, keeping dangers away from its borders, preventing the political atmosphere from becoming inflamed and the regional ethnic and ideological threat, preserving the territorial integrity of itself and its allied regimes, and establishing regional balance by confronting the expansion and strengthening of Takfiri movements outside its borders have been among Iran's regional goals. The main question of the article is: What changes have the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran made towards ISIS in the Middle East (Syria and Iraq)? Given the regional developments, what changes will this policy undergo? The research hypothesis is that fighting ISIS will be more difficult due to its greater mobility in the region, lack of concentration in a specific country, and the expansion of regional branches, and confronting it will require regional intelligence and security unity. The research method of this article is descriptive and the analysis of the data obtained is based on library sources. Iran's foreign policy in the region towards ISIS should be based on security and intelligence interactions and even the formation of a regional organization with a security-intelligence focus with aligned countries.Although regional developments have created challenges in terms of the possibility of ISIS gaining power, these developments will be a good opportunity to strengthen regional partners in the security and intelligence fields.
